Samsung gets special treatment from the chip maker

There has been a lot of fuss around Qualcomm’s new high-end Snapdragon 810 architecture lately.

For one thing, we have been hearing persistent rumors saying that the new chip is faced with overheating issues, but this aspect hasn't seemingly stopped some device makers from announcing products taking advantage of this particular platform.

LG, for one, has stepped forwards to defend its choice, saying the Snapdragon 810 it uses in its LG G Flex 2 is the least overheating processors it has ever seen.

Xiaomi has also officially introduced the Mi Note Pro phablet which takes advantage of the chip, although we’re not exactly sure when the device will go on sale.

Anyhow, Samsung has been rumored of being yet another manufacturer willing to take on the Snapdragon 810 for its upcoming flagship, the Galaxy S6. However, since the overheating rumors popped up, the Korean tech giant apparently had a change of heart.

Sammy has been said to be giving up the Qualcomm scenario in favor of its own Exynos platform. At least initially.

Qualcomm is looking to solve things with the Snapdragon 810 for Samsung

But now a report coming out of The Wall Street Journal says that Qualcomm is trying its best not to lose Samsung as a customer. That’s why the chip maker is said to be working on a chip redesign that will apparently better address the excessive heat emission problems.

The solution will be ready by March, but given that Samsung plans to introduce the Galaxy S6 at MWC 2015 on March 2, will it help much?

Samsung might choose to offer the first batch of Galaxy S6 with Exynos chips onboard, while the second batch will be made to work with Qualcomm’s already notorious platform.

Since all these conflicting reports are coming in, we’ll just have to wait until March to know for sure, which variant Samsung went with.
