On Thursday, leading wireless solutions provider Qualcomm announced that it was working closely with mobile software technology providers all around the world for optimizing their solutions for the next-generation Brew Mobile Platform (Brew MP) operating system from the company. The partnership is focused on a series of key software components, including Java virtual machines, device management, browsers, multimedia, instant messaging, and calendar applications, the company added.
According to Qualcomm, all of these software solutions are to be pre-integrated with the Brew MP, which will also enable developers to deliver their applications to mobile phone makers before
the handsets come to the market. The company underlines the fact that the new solutions are also meant to reduce the time to market of new applications, while also enabling cost savings. In addition, Qualcomm stated that the first mobile phones based on the platform are expected to arrive on the market in early 2010.

Through this collaborative effort, Qualcomm and its software providers will help device makers achieve faster time-to-market and ease of development.”

Qualcomm is aimed at core mobile software applications and technology. The area would include browsers and Java programming support, as well as solutions for mobile social networking, email, and messaging. Other aspects, including graphics engines, multimedia, device management, location-based services, and more, are also taken into consideration, the company added. Some of the key partners for the Brew MP are: Aplix, Bitstream, Comviva, Monotype Imaging, Novarra, PDAger, PixSense, Scanbuy Inc., SEVEN Networks Inc., Yappa, and UCweb.
