Reportedly, chip maker Qualcomm has started shipments of baseband chips to Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia, so that the latter could use them in its upcoming Windows Phones.

The company managed to secure deals for such chips with Samsung as well, also to be used inside the company's new Windows Phone devices.

Said shipments kicked-off in September, a recent report from DigiTimes reads, claiming that they should be carried out through November.

Supply chain partners at expected to benefit from a better fourth quarter of the year following the signing of this deal, the news site states.

For the time being, Nokia did not unveil a Windows Phone, but they promised that the first devices will be launched before year's end.

Samsung, on the other hand, announced the Omnia W for the global market, and the Focus S and Focus Flash for the US.
