The handsets are expected to start selling soon enough

A lot has been written about the fate of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset.

The silicone is supposed to be the powerhouse sustaining 2015’s key flagship products, but rumors about Qualcomm having to deal with overheating issues continue to persist, raising questions whether the platform will be delayed or not.

LG and Xiaomi are the first device manufacturers that have officially announced two handsets sporting Snapdragon 810 on the inside, but the models have yet to be put on sale for mainstream consumers to pick up.

Qualcomm's high-end chip for 2015 might be late to the party

The Snapdragon 810 is one of Qualcomm’s first octa-core chips. It is based on big.LITTLE architecture, and employs two sets of quad-core CPUs, with one set being used for demanding tasks while the other comes into play when there are lightweight actions involved.

Anyway, yesterday an Asian report came in saying that Samsung might be looking to renounce the services of the Snapdragon 810 while its next Galaxy S6 flagship is concerned and use its big.LITTLE Exynos silicone instead, at least for 90% of the preliminary units.

We were wondering whether LG and Xiaomi would also be forced into choosing an alternate chip platform for the two handsets they have unveiled.

But DigiTimes says this isn't the case. According to the publication, Qualcomm is on track with shipping the Snapdragon 810 chips for the LG and Xiaomi handsets.

LG and Xiaomi will be able to offer their products as scheduled

Both the LG G Flex 2 and Xiaomi Note Pro are said to be made available by the end of the month, although Xiaomi didn’t mention this to be the case.

The report mentions that Qualcomm’s clients aren't so much concerned about the overheating issues that we have discussed numerous times already, but about the immaturity of the platform’s base software.

Device makers that are unsure they can make things work with the Snapdragon 810 have a number of alternate choices at their disposal coming from companies like Huawei or Samsung.
