Tablet business is thriving everywhere in the world, so it means tablet chip manufacturers have also experienced growing sales and increases in revenue in the recent quarter.

A new report coming from Strategy Analytics entitled “Tablet Apps Processors Market Share Q3 2013: Qualcomm Grabs Top Spot in Non-iPad Tablets,” shows that the tablet processor market grew by 30% year-over-year reaching $1.2 / €0.88 billion in Q3 2013.

The top five chip marketshare holders in Q3 2013 were Apple, Qualcomm, Intel, Samsung and MediaTek, with Apple remaining on top of the food chain and grabbing 40% of revenue shares in the period.

Coming in at number two was Qualcomm with 13% followed by Intel with 8%. It appears that Qualcomm has had a good year and managed to increase its ranking to the number two position in the top, succeeding to outshine Intel.

Senior Analytics’ Sravan Kundojjala explains that “Qualcomm rose to the number two position in tablet applications processors in Q3 2013 in revenue terms, thanks to its Google Nexus 7 2013 and Kindle Fire HDX design wins.”

Strategy Analytics mentioned that all chip manufacturers performed well in Q3 and 2013, so they maintain the potential to improve their tablet applications processor share in the quarters to come.
