Following the "trend" of free to play, online high budget shooters like Battlefield Heroes, Quake Live (previously known as Quake Zero) promises to bring the ultimate Quake Arena experience to all the fans, for free, together with the company of IGA Worldwide. Having in mind that there are already two hit games opting for this method, we can say that we might see more games following this rule - and we, the gamers, will be the ones to enjoy free great games.

During this year's Game Developer Conference, IGA Worldwide has partnered with id Software to manage all advertising, sponsorship and creative branding opportunities within the forthcoming title. IGA Worldwide seems to have the same feeling regarding the future of the games, predicting that more publishers will start to create what they call "freemium" - free-to-play premium games.

"IGA understands game developers and game players which makes them the perfect partner for Quake Live. Whether it's been the ease of implementing their SDK or just their excitement about Quake Live, they have been fantastic to work with," said Todd Hollenshead, CEO of id Software. "As we work to bring Quake-style deathmatch excitement to the masses, IGA has fully supported our vision."

Id Software have come up with a website for their upcoming game, which is currently open for beta tests, which further means that any of you willing to play this game could have the opportunity do to so if you sign up right away on quakelive.com.

Quake Live promises to deliver the excitement and adrenaline-pumping FPS experience of the original Quake Arena in a free-to-play format for everybody who is interested. Every element of the gameplay experience, including friends lists and instant messaging, sponsored events and tournaments, matchmaking, stats tracking, and everything else is one click away, as we said, via the official web page. As one classic would say: "All your frags are belong to us".
