id Software has launched Pack 13 for Quake Live, which introduces new maps to the first-person shooter, all of them created by members of the community.

The developers say that the Standard arena of maps will now be changed on a monthly basis, with 21 of the arenas chosen for a 30-day period, while those who are willing to pay for the Premium service will have exclusive access to new content for three full months.

Normal players of Quake Live will be able to vote for one of three arenas at the end of each match to get them to the free package.

The new Pack 13 update also introduces bright and Sport skins for all the character models and new options for Start a Match.

During QuakeCon 2012, John Carmack announced that it was focusing all of id Software’s energies on the development of Doom 4, which might mean that lean times are ahead for those who are asking for more Quake Live content.
