Quadrocopter Games: Ball Throwing and Catching with a Net (Video)

New videos about quadrocopters don't come out all that often, but we always find the small flying machines outright adorable, especially seeing as how they can coherently collaborate in mid-air.

Back at the start of the month (September 2012), we saw a light show on the night sky, involving 49 AscTec Quadrocopters / quadrotors.

Now, we only get to watch three of them, but what they are doing is different.

While hovering in mid-air, they are each holding on the end of a net, on which a nice little ball is nestled.

Watch the video embedded above to see the copters stretching the elastic net and tossing the ball into the air, only to fly and catch it before it falls too far down. And yes, this is all done independently. The robots improvise as they go along, rather than follow a pre-loaded routine.
