It appears that HTC is readying another mid-budget smartphone for emerging markets. The unannounced HTC Desire 310 was briefly spotted on the company’s official website, but the handset maker was quick to pull it.

There’s no telling when exactly the smartphone will go official, but given the recent leak, the official release of HTC Desire 310 might not be so far away.

The folks over at Blog of Mobile were quick to spot the smartphone on HTC’s website and managed to grab some info on the Desire 310.

The good news is that the smartphone will be powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. In fact, Desire 310 will be the first HTC smartphone to come equipped with a MediaTek chipset.

Last year, the Taiwanese company announced that it would focus on cheaper smartphones for emerging markets and a deal with MediaTek makes sense.

We can expect more MediaTek-powered smartphones from HTC in the coming months, but the success of these devices clearly depends on pricing.

Back to Desire 310, even though the device has been equipped with a quad-core processor, it only packs 512MB of RAM, which is a major downside, given the fact that lots of games and apps require at least 1GB of RAM to function properly.

Moreover, the smartphone features only 4GB of internal memory, but users will be able to further expand storage up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

On the back, HTC Desire 310 sports a 5-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus and video recording, but lacks LED flash. There’s also a secondary VGA front-facing camera for video calls.

One positive aspect about the Desire 310 is the fact that it offers dual-SIM support, which is mandatory for most emerging markets (i.e. China, India).

HTC Desire 310 will ship with the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box and will be powered by a 2000 mAh battery.

Last but not least, HTC Desire 310 sports a 4.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 854 pixels resolution, as well as a wide range of connectivity options, including Wi-Fi, 3G and Bluetooth 4.0.
