Qt, a cross-platform application and UI framework with APIs for C++ programming, is now at version 5.0.

Qt 5.0 is finally here and not a moment too soon. According to the developers, this is a major overhaul over the Qt 4.x series that have been around since 2005.

“Qt 5 is the successor to Qt 4, and we have done our utmost to keep Qt 5 as compatible with Qt 4.x as possible. We have managed to keep application compatibility in a way that most applications will work with very few changes and a simple recompile on Qt 5,” states the official announcement.

This doesn't mean that Qt is perfect. There are still some bugs present and the developers will try to squash them out in the coming months.

A complete list of changes and fixes can be found in the official announcement.
