Qt, a cross-platform application and UI framework with APIs for C++ programming, is now at version 4.8.0.

The Qt developers said that an important evolutionary milestone was reached with Qt 4.8.0. It features threaded OpenGL support, multithreaded HTTP, Qt Platform Abstraction, and optimized file system access.

Highlights of Qt 4.8.0:

· QPA or Qt Platform Abstraction restructures the GUI stack to enable easier porting of Qt to different devices; · Threaded OpenGL help users to render OpenGL from several thread at the same time; · Multithreaded HTTP enables the handling of requests in a separate thread; · The file system stack has been vastly improved, resulting in better I/O performance across all available platforms. The number of of system calls performed for I/O has also been reduced, making better use of the cached data.
