While the
Tecra A11 laptop released by Toshiba is aimed at small to mid-sized businesses, the company has also launched what it dubs the “elite workstation” Qosmio X500. This system is a mobile PC meant for applications with demanding computing needs, such as engineering and designing among others. Along with the Tecra A11 and the Qosmio, the company has also revealed a number of new models for the Satellite Pro Series, aimed at the small-business professionals.
The
Qosmio X500 is powered by an Intel Core i7-720QM central processing unit and makes use of up to 8GB of DDR3 memory at 1066MHz. High-end graphics capabilities are provided by the NVIDIA GeForce 360M with 1GB GDDR5 graphics memory. In addition, the Qosmio X500 features a 500GB hard drive at 7200RPM, an eSATA/USB combo port for rapid data transfers and a Blu-ray disk drive. While these components provide the performance required for engineering drawings, designing and graphical content creation, it is the 18.4-inch widescreen display that delivers the detailed and sharp visuals.
The workstation runs Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) and comes pre-installed with the Toshiba ReelTime and Bulletin Board applications. Further specs of the product include an HDMI display output with HD support and S/P DIF, as well as a Fusion finish, with red chrome and Omega Black colors.
Last in the string of product releases, after the Tecra A11 and the Qosmio, are the new Satellite Pro L450 and L500 mobile computers. These systems combine reliability and mobility and use Intel Core 2 Duo processors, bright, 15.6-inch HD widescreen displays and connectivity capabilities such as Wi-Fi, Ethernet and a webcam. Full product specifications on each of the models may be found

The Qosmio X500 has a starting price of $1,549, whereas the different models of the Satellite Pro L450 and L500 series have respective tags of $529, $579 and $649. They are available through toshibadirect.com, as well as Toshiba Preferred Partner Program resellers and e-tailers.
