QlikTech, a Business Intelligence (BI) company, has released an iPhone app that puts the power of sophisticated, real-time business answers in the hands of mobile users, according to the company's description. QlikView for iPhone is said to be quite the competitor for Oracle’s mobile BI, which, according to QlikTech, features a rigid interface and limited functionality.

“We comprehensively surveyed the BI mobile landscape and it was clear all previous attempts at addressing user needs failed miserably,” Anthony Deighton, SVP Product, QlikTech, said.

“Just posting a static report on a mobile screen, as Oracle’s solution does, may be marginally helpful, but creates a tremendously frustrating user experience, leaving no opportunity to interact with the data. With QlikView for iPhone, users get a mobile view of a relevant data subset, as well as access to the specific answers they seek. This interactive dynamic is the only way to truly fulfill the promise of mobile BI.”

QlikTech outlines that its app is quite possibly the very first truly interactive mobile BI app built specifically for the iPhone. QlikView fully leverages the Apple handset's Multi-Touch and GPS functionality to deliver... what it is that it delivers. Speaking of which, here's QlikTech's product highlights:

Interactive – click through line items on a list box or chart to get to answers, going deep into regional or product data.

Cover Flow – flip through relevant business analysis, make a new selection and those changes are instantly reflected throughout.

GPS-enabled – automatically delivers local customer sales, service or inventory data as reps approach a customer or supplier facility.

Feature-rich – use Search, Bookmark and Shake to Erase.

“QlikView for iPhone tears down the boundaries between mobile and desktop BI,” Deighton added. “For years, mobile users have imagined having the ability to get up-to-the-minute data on a company’s sales, inventory or finances. QlikView for iPhone makes this a reality. Once users get a taste of real-time access to valid, specific business answers, there’s no going back.”
