Qik, the popular mobile video application for Android and iOS devices, has just been updated with several new features that will be available as a premium service for those who wish to upgrade.

Although the company already released its standard Android application in Android Market for quite a while, it appears that the popularity of its software made the company think of the possibility to better monetize it.

Starting today, Android users will be able take advantage of a new Qik Premium service that offers multiple new features for just $4.99 per month.

It is also worth mentioning that the premium service is also available free for the first 30 days, after which users will need to pay the monthly fee.

With the premium service users will be able to enjoy an all-new video management software called Qik Desktop, which allows them to automatically sync videos via Qik to their computer, cord-free, and manage them with ease.

With “Anytime video mail” users can send and receive video mail anytime. According to the developer, Qik Video users will be able to receive video mails from their Qik Premium friends.

The premium service also offers unlimited video downloads and storage, in comparison with the free version that allows only 25 videos to be uploaded.

In addition, users can upload mobile videos recorded with their phones to their Qik account so they can share and manage them easier.

HD and 3D video recording will be available as well, along with priority support with a dedicated e-mail address and fast response.

Qik Video for Android is available as a free download from Android Market and is compatible with all devices running Android 1.5 or higher.

Premium service is available within the free application, but it is recommended to use the 30-day free trial first.

It appears that the application is not yet compatible with Android 2.3.4.
