QNAP Systems, a Taiwanese manufacturer of NAS servers, NVR video surveillance systems and Network-based video players, continues to expand its line of external storage solutions with the introduction of a new TS-110 desktop NAS server, designed to meet the requirements of today's SOHO users. Part of the company's growing line of Turbo NAS products, the new external storage solution can pack up to 2TB of
storage space, thanks to the support it delivers for a single 3.5-inch hard drive.

“QNAP's new TS-110 is an ideal choice for home and SOHO users due to its outstanding performance-to-price ratio,” said Sam Lo, product manager of QNAP Systems, Inc. “When you consider the TS-110 can be a file server, home media server, host websites, and back up all the computers on the network, it's a fantastic value,” Mr. Lo added.

Following the steps of the latest NAS solutions delivered by the Taiwanese company, the entry-level Turbo NAS TS-110 has been built on an 800MHz Marvell processor, doubled with 256MB of DDR2, a platform choice that enables users to take advantage of an increased storage solution that runs cooler and is more power-efficient than traditional NAS servers. The unit can be featured with a single 3.5-inch hard drive, for a total storage of 2TB. Additional features include the Gigabit Ethernet port, three USB 2.0 ports and also a Kensington lock.

The unit also offers support for a number of other functionalities, including a FTP server, backup server, print server, web server, My SQL server, iTunes Server and others. The TS-110 has been designed to deliver compatibility for Windows, Macintosh, Linux and UNIX networks and also comes with built-in UpnP/DLNA media server features, supporting a range of DLNA media players, such as Sony's PS3 or Microsoft's Xbox 360. Unfortunately, there's no word on pricing and availability at this time.
