Not long ago, we covered the official release of three new Turbo NAS devices for businesses, and now we can check out the latest addition to the consumer lineup as well, called Turbo NAS TS-212P.

The newcomer definitely puts more emphasis on design than the others, featuring a snow-white case and two bays for SATA III HDDs.

It should work well for file storage, data backup, file sharing, acting as a media center (LAN streaming) and as a hub for other items (it has USB 3.0 after all, not just LAN).

In fact, it has two USB 3.0 connectors. On that note, the QNAP TS-212P Turbo NAS also possesses a Gigabit LAN port, a 1.6 GHz CPU and 512 MB of DDR3 RAM.

"The new TS-212P features an upgraded hardware specification from the TS-212. With a faster CPU and doubled RAM, the TS-212P provides an even greater capability to satisfy growing demands for file management & sharing for home and small/home office users," said Laurent Cheng, product manager of QNAP.

Hardware is just half of it though. Software support is extensive as well, as owners can use the Photo Station, Music Station and Video Station, for archiving, managing and sharing their various files.

DLNA and AirPlay are both supported as well, so you can stream right to a TV whenever you want.

Then there's the ability to sync files across computers, tablets, smartphones, MP3 players and lots of other devices.

Sharing files across different communities and groups is another thing that can be done, through mobile apps like Qfile, Qmusic, Qphoto, Qmanager and VMobile.

Then there's the Real-time Remote Replication (RTRR), which backs data up to cloud servers like Symforum, Dropbox, ElephantDrive, Amazon S3, Google Drive, etc. Owners of Mac systems can use the Apple Time Machine instead.

QNAP TS-212P Turbo NAS is already available for an unspecified price.
