Today, QNAP has made available a new firmware package targeted at a large number of network storages, namely version 4.0.6.0321, which includes a few changes that will improve the compatible devices’ overall usability.

Specifically speaking, this fresh update fixes the problem where users have to rejoin when logging in a Windows 2000 AD domain and the one where reinitializing the NAS would clear the data in the external drive.

In addition to that, version 4.0.6.0321 also resolves the issue with .psd file formats transmitted by an AFP protocol that could not be opened.

When it comes to installing this release, you should know that this step should be taken only when the newer firmware is really needed. Moreover, it would be best if you performed the upgrade in a steady power environment, such as the one ensured by a UPS unit.

Therefore, if you consider that this version improves your NAS in any way, back up all your important files to avoid any potential data loss and get and extract the proper package for your device. Now log into the administration page, click browse, and select the .img file from the newly created folder.

If checked, click on the “Update System” button and wait for the network storage to perform the upgrade. When the unit completes the firmware update and informs you of it through a proper message, make sure you check the currently installed version to ensure the installation has been successful.

That being said, download Firmware 4.0.6.0321 for QNAP Network Storages (follow the link that best describes your NAS unit), apply the new version, and check with our website as often as possible in order to “stay updated one minute ago.”
