QNAP Systems launched a new network storage server, the 2-bay, Hot-swappable All-in-one NAS (Network Attached Storage) Server, TS-209 Pro Turbo Station that is aimed at office and business use. This NAS server is different from everything else the market has to offer now as the TS-209 Pro uses a powerful 500MHz processor backed up by the fast 128MB DDR2 memory while the connectivity side is entrusted to the Gigabit Ethernet design.

According to the manufacturing company's press release the TS-209 Pro has numerous advantages : "its ultra-high-speed performance significantly boosts the file sharing speed. Abundant valuable server features are also included, such as advanced auto-sync/schedule/instant backup, cross-platform sharing for Windows, Mac, Linux and Unix, RAID 1 mirroring protection with hot-swapping design, encrypted FTP file sharing, Web Server of PHP with MySQL and SQLite, encrypted Remote Replication, unique Web File Manager, built-in DDNS, SSL and SSH remote login, and Windows AD service support, etc.."

"To store, back up, manage, and share digital assets and outputs appropriately have become increasingly essential. However, it is a challenging job for most small business and SOHO users due to the lack of resources and professional IT staff. Now, QNAP TS-209 Pro Turbo Station offers the most ideal solution to fulfill all these needs." said Meiji Chang, CEO of QNAP Systems, who was cited in the same press release. For data back up the NAS server TS-209 Pro provides three distinct solution: "using the professional backup software, NetBak Replicator, users can select Auto-Sync/ Instant/ Schedule backup modes to back up the data on multiple Window PCs. The encrypted Remote Replication and RAID 1 disk mirroring ensures exclusive data protection. Moreover, it supports various security mechanisms for data storage and management. The secure FTP Server enables data transfer and sharing over SSL/ TLS (explicit) encryption. The server can be accessed by remote login by SSH connection and browser-based SSL login. Users can access, store and share data securely."

A network storage server is mainly used in offices so it must be quiet and have a small space and energy footprint and the TS-209 Pro meets both conditions as it is equipped with a smart fan that is helped in its mission by the wind tunnel effect implemented in the server's design. Plenty of storage capacity is given by the use of two SATA compatible hard disk drives that can reach a 2TB combined capacity. QNAP TS-209 Pro will be available starting August, 2007 and can be ordered via QNAP global distributors and resellers.
