Adoption of NAS devices has beens spreading rapidly and QNAP has just announced that its business-oriented line of Turbo NAS servers has just increased with the addition of the 2-drive TS-259 Pro+, the 4-drive TS-459 Pro+, the 5-drive TS-559 Pro+, and the 6-drive TS-659 Pro+.

“QNAP Turbo NAS Pro+ models offer a rich suite of business applications including the most comprehensive centralized backup available, website hosting, printer sharing, file server/sharing, and even video surveillance recording using networked cameras,” states the press release.

The new network-attached storage devices are superior to previous models because they employ the Intel Atom D525 dual-core processor, with a clock speed of 1.83 GHz.

The models have capacities of up to 12TB support both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch hard disk drives, each of which is housed inside a hot-swappable, lockable drive carrier.

Said HDDs can be configured in a variety of RAID setups, such as RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 5+ hot spare, and 6+ hot spare (5-drive and higher models).

What's more, the products benefit from such features as Online RAID level migration, online RAID capacity expansion and RAID recovery.

All of them support fully virtualized server clustering and support MC/S, MPIO, SPC-3, and thin provisioning.

Not only that, but network storage solutions boast built-in iSCSI initiators and target service, which lets up to 8 other QNAP Turbo NAS units be added to the same network and virtually expand the storage capacity.

As for the speed at which they work, the Business Series Turbo NAS Pro+ can achieve data rates of up to 116 MB/s. All of them will become available this month, though prices are still a mystery.

"Businesses of all sizes have really come to love their QNAP Business Series Turbo NAS servers," said Laurent Cheng, Product Manager for QNAP Systems, Inc.

"No other NAS manufacturer equips their NAS offerings with the performance and business-critical features of QNAP units. The new Turbo NAS Pro+ models continue that tradition of excellence," Cheng added.
