The network-attached storage devices are tower-shaped

With NAS devices having become so very popular among small and medium business owners, not to mention regular customers (those with reasonably high funds at least), QNAP never stands to lose anything by launching another.

The company has just released not one but two models, known collectively as the TS-x31+ series Turbo NAS series for small and home offices.

The TS-231+ is the 2-bay tower model, while the TS-431+ is the 4-bay version, also tower-shaped but closer to a cube shape than the other one, since the extra bays add to the girth.

Both products have white cases and rely on an ARM processor to operate. A Cortex-A15 dual-core to be precise, with a frequency of 1.4 GHz and backed by 1 GB of DDR3 random access memory.

The HDD bays are, of course, hot-swappable, meaning that you can change HDDs on the fly without any ill effects. Good for when one fails, but you need the setup to keep going.

Other specs include three USB 3.0 ports and the obligatory LAN support (two ports, not just one).

Sales of the QNAP TS-x31+ series Turbo NAS devices will begin next month, February 2015. Prices haven't been mentioned, but you'll end up paying more for the HDDs anyway, so that;'s not a great loss.
