QEMU 1.7, a generic open source emulator and virtualizer that can run OSes and programs made for a different machine, has been released and is available for download.

QEMU 1.7 supports virtualization when executing under the Xen hypervisor or using the KVM kernel module in Linux.

As usual, every new version of QEMU comes with a ton of changes and fixes. According to the changelog, the MSI-X affinity is now configurable with VFIO, various USB 3.0 emulation improvements have been implemented, it's now possible to generate ACPI tables within QEMU, and S3 support has been added for Xen HVM.

Also, new throttling algorithm for block devices has been added, support has been added for the filesystem freeze/thaw on Windows guests, and TCG host support for x32 has been added.

A complete list of changes and updates can be found in the official announcement. Download QEMU 1.7 right now from Softpedia.
