If you thought pineapple or gold-crusted pizza was a bit bizarre, what would you say if you were served with a reptile-themed pie that featured frog legs, alligator chunks or python slices, besides the usual cheese and tomato sauce.

A creative pizza place from Florida saw a pressing problem, the worrying spread of the Burmese python, and decided to solve it by turning the reptiles into local delicacies. Why not eat the slithering pest as a bizarre pizza topping.

The unique pizza with Everglades specific, local ingredients measures 14 inches (35.5 centimeters) and will cost one $45 (€33) because python meat is not that cheap, reaching $66 ($48) a pound (0.45 kg).

Evan's Neighborhood Pizza from Front Myers, Florida decided to attract customers with a more uncommon pizza topping based on slithering creatures found in the local environment. After pythons started taking over the Everglades, Evan Daniell, the 52-year-old owner of the food shop, decided to turn them into a tasty marinated topping.

“I'm very adventurous when it comes to food, that's for sure. You have different flavors throughout each bite,” Evan says, according to NY Daily News. The weird combination of tastes was seen as a dare by most people, and proceeded to shock owners with the amount of orders they received since including it in the menu.

Each ingredient is thoroughly cooked in order to reveal its finest taste in the combination of dough, sauce, tomatoes, swamp cabbage, frog legs, hog, alligator meat and python slices. The python meat is marinated and then cooked in order to have a special taste, and the frog legs come completely with bones and give the pie a distinctive look.

Evan believes success is all about being creative, and his unique pizza toppings are exactly what he needed to lead a profitable business. He is now considering a new and even more crazy pizza called “roadkill” that would include raccoon, armadillo and possum meat. The only issue encountered with the recipe is the fact that it is hard to find a supplier, at least for the moment.
