Digital Chocolate has released Pyramid Bloxx in the App Store. The puzzle game resembling Tower Bloxx has won several awards from reviewers and can be immediately downloaded, either in full or limited, free version.

“Pyramid Bloxx is simple, innovative and fun to play,” Trip Hawkins, CEO of Digital Chocolate, said. “It’s a charming game that all Tower Bloxx fans will enjoy.” Digital Chocolate is responsible for numerous other iPhone and iPod touch titles, all of which can be downloaded on a try-before-you-buy basis from the iTunes App Store.

Today's title, Pyramid Bloxx, has been specifically designed to take full advantage of the features unique to the iPhone and iPod touch. The developer offers the accelerometer-based control as an example, as it lets players flick their device to toss blocks upwards. The company even offers a hint explaining that, if gamers flick the device twice, it will activate the Double Fly power-up, pushing the block past two floors to reach the top faster.

Pyramid Bloxx can be acquired for $4.99, but remember, there's also the free (lite) version of the game. In this version, Digital Chocolate has enabled a game mode where players must build up to 50 floors (Quick Game), as well as a mode where they are tasked with completing a full pyramid structure (Empire Mode). In case you haven't figured it out already, the game is set in Egypt. The main features include:

– two unique game modes: Quick and Empire;
– earn extra combo points for perfect stone throws when mining pyramid stones;
– watch out for real environmental disasters that can help or hinder your building efforts, such as sand storms and earthquakes;
– a colorful list of characters, including Muscle Miners, Slow Donkeys and Swinging Monkeys;
– great controls (either tap on the screen, or flick the device to toss the block up;
– great music and sound effects.

Pyramid Bloxx is compatible with iPhone and iPod touch and requires iPhone OS 2.1.
