The development team behind the Starcraft Universe MMO project have announced that the Player versus Player mode of their game will be playable by all those interested via the Battle.net service from Blizzard until October 30.

On that date the mod will be taken down and the team will work on it some more before launching an open beta stage.

All those who chose to play Starcraft Universe will be able to get a mid level character going and can unlock more abilities and features if they manage to win enough matches.

The arena on offer is called Encephalon Grid and all classes included in the game are offered.

Starcraft Universe seemed destined to never get off the ground because it uses a structure similar to World of Warcraft and the characters well known to gamers from the Starcraft series but Blizzard chose to give the project its blessing.

Starcraft Universe does not currently have a set launch date.
