Atlus U.S.A. is announcing that it has decided to delay the release of its videogame Steal Princess until May 19. The title was, the company says, initially scheduled to be launched in early April, but Atlus was interested in expanding the level of interest in it, so it decided that a month of delay would not hurt it too bad. Atlus is also saying that it plans to include a mini poster with art taken from the game with each sale of Steal Princess.

Steal Princess is a game that approaches the basic theme of “ancient evil conquering the land” with a lot of humor. A new Demon Lord is bent on raining destruction and then dominating humanity.

As no Hero steps forward to take him down, a female thief, who has a reputation for being rather lazy, but clever, is handed the task of fighting the evil being. Anise the thief is being helped by the fairy Kukri, who also provided council to the heroes of the past.

The game is being billed as part platformer and part puzzle. It's all done in 3D and takes full advantage of the capabilities of the Nintendo DS platform.

Each of the more than 150 levels included in the games are solved by finding a key, which is done after a lot of running, jumping, puzzling and fighting. After the player completes one level, he/she can go back to it in order to collects more gems, which unlocks better items, get better times and earn higher in-game rankings.

One interesting aspect is that Steal Princess has a custom map creator that allows all players to build new areas, complete with enemies, items and even fresh victory conditions. All these can be shared with other players using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
