Purr Pals Unlockables (DS)

Purr Pals, as the title suggests, is a pet simulation game, in which players must take care of a kitten, starting from the adoption phase. It was created by Crave Entertainment as an answer to Nintendo's hugely successful Nintendogs title for the DS handheld game. It was sponsored by Purina, as it features a lot of products made by the company. The game was released on March 27, 2007 in North America, reaching European shores on August 10 the same year.

The game starts with the player adopting a kitten from the local shelter, based on how much money he/she can spend on the adoption fee. With prices being around 85 dollars, that leaves the player enough money to buy supplies for his/her new pet, including food, kitty litter or toys. Breeds that are more rare will cost you extra and you won’t afford to buy as many supplies as required.

Before you can take your kitty home, you can pick its markings, eye color, tail, teeth, whisker colors, gender, name and more. These features weren't present in the Nintendogs series of titles, and were a welcomed addition in this title. 

A veterinary guide will teach you the things you will need to know at the beginning of the game. After the tutorial sequences are over, she will only let you know about cat shots and give you tips from time to time in order to improve your cat grooming skills.

You can interact with you kitten through the touchscreen of the device, but the cat won't respond to voice commands like the animals present in Nintendogs or Catz. Depending on your cat's wellbeing, you will receive an allowance that can be spent on buying food, cat litter, cushions, food and water bowls, toys and much more, all available at the Purina Kitten Store.

Winning first place

In order for your cat to win first place in the cat show, make sure your pet's hunger, cleanliness, playfulness, and love has no more than three green bars. If it is below three bars, then the judges should give you all 10s and say that you have won first place. You will win either $30 or $40.

Dancing kitten

Carry your kitten around in the garden on the dump truck. Place the back of the truck against the birdbath, then drop off your kitten. If done correctly, the kitten will appear on top of the birdbath and will begin dancing.
