14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung fans that plan to grab the Galaxy Mega 6.3 will be happy to know that the South Korean company has just announced that the smartphone will also be available in purple.
The purple Galaxy Mega 6.3 has been officially introduced in Hong Kong, but we suspect that Samsung will make it available in other countries as well.
Aside from its color, there aren’t any differences between the purple Galaxy Mega 6.3 and the white and black color versions, which have already been available on the market for quite some time now.
Samsung is well known for announcing new color options for some of its most representative handsets a few months after they go on sale.
We’re not sure how well the Galaxy Mega 6.3 has sold since its launch back in June, but the newly announced purple version is likely to boost its sales.
The Galaxy Mega 6.3 is the largest Android smartphone launched by Samsung to date and, as the name suggests, it boasts a huge 6.3-inch SC-LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution and 233 ppi (pixel density).
The phablet ships with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, but Samsung may offer an upgrade to Android 4.3 in the following months.
Hardware-wise, Galaxy Mega 6.3 is less impressive than other phablets available on the market, but has enough power to run almost any app and game available on the market.
The smartphone is equipped with a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.7 GHz and an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit.
The backside of the handset accommodates an enhanced 8-megapixel photo snapper, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording. There’s also a secondary 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.
When it comes to connectivity, the Galaxy Mega 6.3 is an all-rounder. It packs LTE and HSDPA (21Mbps) support, as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC (Near Field Communication).
