The high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) is the future of multimedia content transfer technologies, as it provides very high bandwidths, compared to other solutions (to name just one of its advantages). However, HDMI is a wired technology, and this is the reason why the people over at Pulse-LINK have decided to take things to the next level and announced the imminent release of a couple of solutions that enable real-time high definition audio and video distribution throughout the home, namely the CWave UWB HDMI-Over-Coax and Wireless HDMI home theater solutions.

Thus, the CWave HDMI products provide real-time visually lossless wired and wireless streaming of audio and video content between entertainment source devices and HDTV displays. Video data is encoded using the JPEG2000 video codec, the same codec used by movie theaters for "Digital Cinema," which means that they can provide a secure high definition home theater experience.

The first of the two products that have just been announced by the Pulse-LINK is the CWave UWB HDMI-Over-Coax, which extends the transport and content protection mechanisms provided by the HDMI interface reach over existing coax cabling, including splitters. In this manner, consumers will be able to access high-bandwidth HD content from entertainment source devices in one room and display it in any other room in the house.

On the other hand, the CWave UWB Wireless HDMI reduces the "rat's nest" of connector wires behind entertainment systems, enabling clean installation of wall-mounted flat-panel displays anywhere in the room. The HDMI extender enables longer-range, secure wireless connectivity between the HDTV display and multiple entertainment source devices such as video game consoles, DVRs, Blu-ray DVD and HD DVD players.

"HDMI is the preferred direct link between HDTVs and digital sources such as Blu-ray and HD DVD players, video game consoles, and set-top boxes used by cable, satellite and IPTV gateways," states John Santhoff, Pulse~LINK Founder and CTO. "Streaming HD content around the home presents the greatest technical challenges for home networking and exposes bandwidth and Quality-of-Service limitations. CWave provides a 'No New Wires' solution- extending the reach of HDMI from room-to-room over existing coax cabling and wirelessly connecting devices within each room using the same chip."

As the company informs us, all the products that use the CWave HD home networking technology will be showcased at the upcoming CES 2008, so the lucky users who get to visit this event will have a change to take a closer look at this advanced connectivity products.
