Boutique integrator of custom PC systems Puget announced a new high-performance gaming system, called the Deluge-II, built on the Intel Skulltrail platform. Although not as famous as Alienware, Puget made
a name out of its custom PC systems for enthusiasts, gamers, consumers and SMB markets, and if you are wondering where you may have heard of them, then you probably remember their mineral-oil cooled system.

The Skulltrail platform has been launched for some time now and is comprised of two quad core Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9775 processors and the Intel Desktop Board D5400XS with 4 PCI Express x16 Gen 1.1 slots. The Deluge-II is a high-performance computing platform with a custom design to meet the needs of gaming enthusiasts. It comes with two overclocked Intel 45-nanometer QX9775 Core2 Duo processors, finely tuned for peak performance.

"Our collaboration with Intel on the launch of Skulltrail is a prime example of how Puget Systems partners with industry leaders -- the innovators who are driving the newest and hottest developments in enthusiast computing," said Jon Bach, president of Puget Systems. "We've been working closely with Intel since the early days of Skulltrail to ensure we had a complete understanding of how to deliver a computing experience that fully leverages all that Skulltrail has to offer. The result of that collaboration is Deluge -- a bleeding edge gaming rig that takes full advantage of the Skulltrail high performance platform."

The Deluge systems are custom-built to meet the expectations of each individual customer. The default configuration includes Dual Intel 45-nanometer processors, extreme CPU liquid cooling, quad-SLI configuration and high-performance FB-DIMM memory modules. The rest of the components are chosen by the user, as needed.

"Intel has worked closely with Puget Systems in bringing Skulltrail to market," said CJ Bruno, Director of Americas Marketing, Intel Corporation. "Puget Systems provides a robust computing environment in which Skulltrail can flex its processing muscle so users of this system will enjoy the truly immersive and exciting experience."

The Deluge-II is available upon request, at a starting price of $8,967.99 for the default configuration.
