Today I found out, to my amazement, that Iconfactory is much more than just icons. Although I visited their website often enough some time ago, I was more interested in their free icon sets and other free graphics content available on their site, so I just missed the fact that these guys are also producing software. Well, it seems that from now on I won't do the mistake of thinking that Iconfactory is only about icons and other graphics, because it's much more than that!

If you want to know more about the company, then I will only tell you that The Iconfactory was founded back in April 1996 by Corey Marion, Talos Tsui and Gedeon Maheux, and incorporated in January 2000. Their most notable project so far was to create over 100 icons for Microsoft to be included in Windows XP, as well as over 100 ones for the Xbox 360 UI and website.

Moving on to the software area, I have to tell you about their latest release, called Twitterrific, an application for Mac OS X that allows you to read and write posts, also known as "tweets", on the Twitter community website. Obviously, the first thing to do before starting to use this program is to visit the Twitter home page and sign up for an account to use with Twitterrific.

Twitterriffic requires Mac OS X 10.4 and a community account, and the application, as well as the Twitter account are free of any charge. The small wrench icon at the bottom of its interface allows you to change settings such as refresh time, auto window hiding and more, while its feature set includes auto show/hide and refreshing, single click access to Twitter user profiles, and audio notification for new tweets.
