Regional carrier Public Mobile has just introduced the entry-level Elevation Android smartphone in Canada. This could be the operator's last handset launched through its official channels before it gets absorbed by major carrier TELUS.

As MobileSyrup points out, Elevation ships with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box, and will remain on this version forever.

Customers can purchase the handset for only $250 (€180) outright and pair it with Public Mobile's unlimited Siren Music service

There are no mentions on the Elevation's processor and memory, but the carrier confirms the smartphone sports a large 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display and a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera.

Other highlights of the device include: secondary VGA front-facing camera for video calls, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as built-in GPS.
