Psystar, the Florida-based computer vendor that is legally entangled with Apple over copyright claims, has emerged from Chapter 11 (bankrupcy protection) with a new computer capable of running Mac OS X. The Open7 reportedly brings together Apple’s elusive OS and Intel’s Nehalem Xeon architecture.

“Today we are proud to introduce the new Open(7) which brings together OS X and Intel Nehalem Xeon technology,” an email sent out to Psystar (registered) customers on July 4 reads. “With up to 40% more processing speed and up to 24 GB of memory the Open(7) is capable of handling even the most demanding multimedia and gaming workloads. When coupled with our innovative three-layer, sound-deadening side panels and front door the Open(7) with OS X is now our fastest and most quiet computing configuration available. The next generation of Open Computing has arrived,” the description ends.

Also worth noting for those interested in Psystar hardware is that, as of this month, all new computers will feature the Psystar-exclusive DUBL graphical bootloader technology. New features include the graphical boot menu; an advanced XNU option support; the automatic detection of multiple OSes and the Legacy IDE ATAPI support. Psystar customers will be able to upgrade their current systems in the coming weeks, via the OpenRestore application, provided their system is under warranty.

Before letting customers get on with checking the rest of their email inbox, Psystar includes a tidbit, this time regarding the actual legal fire it is facing from Apple. “As you all may already be aware in late May, Psystar filed for Chapter 11 protection,” the Florida company says.

“Although this was critical to our continued daily operations, we now are ready to emerge and again battle Goliath. More information will be available in the coming days when we will be formally discharged by the Bankruptcy court,” the message reads. Psystar posts one final remark, saying, “When life gives you apples, make applesauce.”
