Since Apple isn't doing anything about Mac cloner Psystar, the Florida based copy-cats have decided to roll out their own version of Apple Inc.'s 1U rackmount server computers. Psystar's OpenServ Computers start at $1,600 and all run on the server operating systems associated with the company's Open products, Psystar claims.

"The Psystar OpenServ takes the principles of Open Computing and brings it into the business realm," the maker of Mac clones notes on its web site. "The OpenServ is rack-mountable and capable of running all of the server OSes associated with our Open Computing products."

"Our OpenServ has a 500W power supply, dual gigabit lan, 4 drive bays, and tool-less rails for mounting," Psystar explains on. "The OpenServ is equipped with more than just standard hardware. The hard discs used in the OpenServ have a 1.2 million hour MTBF (mean time between failure) rating. Fully-buffered RAM ensures the data integrity necessary for a server environment," the Florida-based Mac cloner notes on its web site.

Psystar's OpenServ 1100 starts at $1,599.99 for a default configuration of CentOS 5.1 Linux preinstalled (you didn't expect the $150 worth Mac OS X Leopard did you?), no monitor mouse or keyboard included, Intel Xeon E5420 Harpertown 2.5GHz Quad-Core Processor, 4GB of fully-buffered DDR2 667 RAM, one 750GB 7200RPM SATA drive, Dual Gigabit LAN, Integrated Graphics.

As for the company's high-end OpenServ 2400 Computer, the default configuration includes CentOS 5.1 Linux preinstalled, no monitor mouse or keyboard included, Intel Xeon E5420 Harpertown 2.5GHz Quad-Core Processor, 4GB of fully-buffered DDR2 667 RAM, one 750GB 7200RPM SATA drive, Dual Gigabit LAN, Integrated Graphics, compatibility with low-profile expansion cards.

An OpenServ 2400 sporting a Dual Xeon QuadCore E5430 2.66Ghz, 16GB fully buffered DDR2 667, and 6 one Terabyte SATA 7200RPM hard drives, all running under Apple's latest OS X 10.5 Leopard Server will have you forking well over 6 Gs.

Psystar claims its latest Open Computing additions are aimed at businesses that require a centralized point to control office information, access, storage, hosting demanding databases and web applications.
