Dr. Joyce Brothers, a pioneer in television and respectable author, has passed away at the age of 85. Her longtime publicist Sanford Brokaw has confirmed the tragic news but did not reveal a cause of death, Entertainment Weekly informs.

Neither did Brokaw reveal more details save that she died this Monday in New York.

“Joyce Brothers, the pop psychologist who pioneered the television advice show in the 1950s and enjoyed a long and prolific career as a syndicated columnist, author, and television and film personality, has died,” EW writes.

“Brothers is survived by sister Elaine Goldsmith, daughter Lisa Brothers Arbisser, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren,” the publication adds.

Above is an old interview Dr. Brothers did with Joan Rivers on how she could tell a lot about a man’s personality depending on the kind of fruit he’d choose from a bowl.

She will certainly be missed.
