Proxmox VE (Virtual Environment), an easy to use open source virtualization platform for running Virtual Appliances and Virtual Machines, has just reached version 2.0 Beta 2.

Users who run the previous Beta release don't need to download the entire distribution all over again. Just hit the following commands in a terminal to update from the first beta.

sudo aptitude update sudo aptitude dist-upgrade

There are quite a number of changes and updates. Among the most important ones are a complete new backup scheduler, working GUI and CLI for OpenVZ containers and KVM VM, vswap support, uploading vina the browser ISO images and templates, and the syslog viewer complete reworked.

Developer also specified that the distribution is based on vzkernel-2.6.32-042stab042.1.src.rpm and that initial support for IE, Firefox and Chrome are preferred.

Download Proxmox VE 2.0 Beta 2 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development release and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended to be used for testing purposes only.
