A new iPhone app is available for parents looking to “prove” to their kids that Santa Claus is real. It’s appropriately called Santa Spy Cam and it records “live-action, high-quality video of friendly Elves AND Santa Claus in their home.”

According to StruckAxiom, “Santa Spy Cam (SSC) is the ultimate Christmas app that enables parents (and grandparents) to record live-action, high-quality video of friendly Elves AND Santa Claus in their home.”

The app basically captures so-called “sightings” of Santa and his Elves as they park the sleigh near the house, accidentally drop candy, put presents around the house, etc.

Santa Spy Camera itself is free but the app is packed to the brim with in-app purchases. In fact, pretty much everything you can use in the app costs money, so be careful with it around the kids.

It includes some precautions to keep children away from the in-app purchases, as well as to keep the magic alive, but don’t bet on them. Surely there are some clever kids out there who could easily bypass them

“Designed by parents, for parents, SSC will bring an unprecedented level of magic and enchantment to your children's holiday experience with its highly intuitive suite of ‘spy’ options,” according to StruckAxiom.

These features include:

- Dozens of spy settings providing countless live-action video “sighting” opportunities - Intuitive customization options for limitless creativity - Easy sharing on Facebook, YouTube, and Email - Multi-level security feature to help keep the most curious ones from using the app - Bonus bedtime stories with matching “sighting” options - “Days Till Christmas” Countdown

Santa Spy Camera requires iOS 6.1 or later and works only with small-screen devices. For an app that relies so much on visual oomph, it’s a shame it forces the child to witness the magic of Christmas through a 4-inch LCD.
