The latest events surrounding HP LaserJet printers caused a lot of waves and many owners are desperately trying to update their firmware to protect their devices against hackers. Since the firmware is not easy to find on HP’s site, our Drivers Department is offering you easy-to-find download links for your HP LaserJet printer.

While the firmware update doesn’t entirely solve the problems highlighted recently by Columbia University researchers, this is one of the first steps owners should take to make sure their computers are secure against attacks that rely on their HP printer flaws.

Recently, at the 28C3 Chaos Communication Congress, Ang Cui, one of the researchers who discovered the issues, gave a detailed presentation on the vulnerabilities that make a simple printer a gateway for hackers.

Cui claims that even though the firmware update doesn’t completely solve the problems, other weaknesses still being unaddressed, it’s an important measure and he recommends all HP LaserJet printer owners immediately update their firmware to prevent malicious unsigned firmware from accessing the device.
