Data security becomes a problem nowadays when your privacy is threatened by spyware on your computer, phishing scams in your email and hackers on the Internet. A simple password doesn't seem to be enough to protect your computer files from unwanted access. Security companies launch daily updates for their antivirus products and software giants such as Microsoft update their operating systems
monthly to keep up with new security threats.
Elcom launches a relatively simple yet effective solution for securing the data on the USB keys they manufacture. They incorporated a little software program that asks you for a password before accessing the data. Moreover, if someone tries to look through your files and types a wrong password, the Elcom USB key is blocked and can be used again only if a master password will be introduced. The master password is also set by the owner of the USB stick.
Elcom's products are small (67x17.5x9.9mm) but not as small as the highly acclaimed
Kingmax's Super Stick.
The USB disk keys from Elcom come in capacities ranging from 128MB to 1GB. They are available in four colors (silver, black, blue and red) and have a small hole through which you can attach a carrying strap.
