Much has been written about the demise of the camera at the hands of the smartphone. Of course, this is not entirely true; but the main stream consumers are indeed taking advantage of the fact that smartphone cameras are getting better and better and have long surpassed the point where they were only good for taking Facebook selfies.

Some smartphones today offer innovative features and advanced video tools that some cameras only dream of. And lately smartphone cameras aren’t only the domain of the lay person, but also of professionals too.

Take the latest Bentley car ad called “Intelligent Details.” It was shot using only an iPhone 5s, working in concert with iPhone video shooting accessories, including iPhone lenses and mount, says CultofMac. After that, the footage was moved for editing and final polishing touches on the iPad Air.

The filming crew used the iMovie iOS app in order to jell everything into a comprehensive 4:26 clip.

The fact is, most of the video editing was comfortably done in the back of a Bentley car, something that shows iOS devices can be turned into powerful tools in the hands of professionals.

The video follows some of the Bentley-design team members taking a car-ride and sharing with us insights into the design process of these beautiful cars.

At the end of the mini-film, there’s also some behind the-scenes footage, for those curious to see how the filming team managed to pull this off.

But Bentley choose to shoot this video for a very specific reason: to highlight the Mulsanne’s impressive on-board entertainment and connectivity suite.

One of the most eye-catching is the twin electrically-deployed tables that reveal a hidden iPad depository that even has a dedicated space for Apple’s wireless keyboard. An eloquent example of the fruitful relationship between Apple and Bentley.

Bentley also teases other goodies in the video, covering audio components, the rear seat entertainment system and in-car Wi-Fi hotspot.

As impressive as shooting a commercial for a respectable brand such as Bentley with just an iPhone sounds other companies have used the same product for the same endeavor. For example, back in 2013 Burberry used the same iPhone 5S to film their entire fashion show.

Stepping out of the Apple garden, the Nokia Lumia 1020 has been known to help shoot photographs used in fashion magazines.

Nevertheless, even if smartphone pictures offer great quality, they still can’t be compared with the results obtained by using a high-end DSLR. Not yet, anyway.
