And the Epson EMP-TW1000 is a very good example in this regard

Whenever someone says the “magical” words “Full High Definition”, the first thing that comes to most people's minds is a huge LCD or plasma screen occupying half of their living room. However, these two are not the only available options for a high-end home entertainment (or, better said, home cinema) system, since projectors released on the market over the past few years have reached and in some cases, even surpassed, their other counterparts.

Take the EMP-TW1000 from Epson, for example. This monster of a projector can deliver a 12.000:1 contrast ratio, full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution, as well as up to 16.77 million colors. Moreover, the device can generate images with diagonal sizes ranging between 30 and 300 feet at distances between 0,87 m – 9,03 m.

The projector sports a manual focus system, while the zoom level is also very impressive, ranging between 1 and 2.1 x. It comes equipped with an E-TORL 170W UHE (ultra high-efficiency) lamp, which delivers a rather OK 1200 ANSI lumens. Moreover, it delivers several chromatic modes, which adapts the color output according to the level of brightness in one room.

All that you've read above are just figures and specs. In real life, the EMP-TW1000 is even more impressive than on paper. When connected to a source of HD video (in this case, a PS3 playing a Blu-ray movie), the effect was quite impressive, the images projected onto the screen being very sharp, bright and judder free. Actually, there was even a small 3-D like effect going on in there, but not exactly easy to spot.

However, it's important to mention that this device does have a shortcoming, namely the fact that it targets mostly those users who are willing to spend a larger sum for their home entertainment needs, since it sells for 2,800 – 4,000 US dollars, depending on the store.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
