Microsoft announced on the debut day of Tech-Ed 2011 USA that it would release Service Pack 1 for Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010 in less than two months. According to the software giant, the first upgrade for Project and Project Server 2010 SP1 is also scheduled for availability by the end of June 2011.

At the end of next month, the Redmond company will kick up a notch Microsoft Project Standard 2010, Microsoft Project Professional 2010 and Microsoft Project Server 2010.

SP1 for Project and Project Server 2010 comes at approximately a year after the RTM of the products. In this regard, Microsoft managed to keep within the lines of traditional upgrade release cycles.

Ludovic Hauduc – General Manager – Microsoft Project Business Unit reveals that Microsoft has been receiving positive feedback from Project customers, with constructive input also shared with the company.

As usual, the company used consumer feedback when building Project SP1 and Project Server 2010 SP1, and as such, customers will be able to notice that a range of problems have been resolved.

“In total, we fixed over 200 issues in SP1 for Project and Project Server. Additionally SP1 is a rollup of all the fixes we’ve previously shipped meaning it contains all of the cumulative updates that have been released to date,” Hauduc said.
