New comedy promises real teen mayhem, the kind you've never seen before

From the producer of the two “Hangover” films Todd Phillips comes a film that might be a comedy just as well as it might be a horror flick. The first trailer for “Project X” is out.

Though it kicks off as a trailer for a horror movie (probably because it uses the “found footage” technique), it soon changes gears and resembles a typical high school, teen comedy.

“Project X” tells the story of 3 boys from the unpopular bunch in high school, who decided to use the time their left home alone to throw a party that will instantly (overnight is probably a more adequate term) make them popular.

In a matter of hours, things take a turn for the worse. In the trailer, we see quick shots of the police and then, quite unexpectedly, of flamethrowers, hooliganism and other violent acts.

With Phillips acting as producer, chances are high “Project X” is the kind of comedy that takes everything to the extreme, as was the case with “Hangover.” Or it could just be a disaster movie.

Check out the trailer above. “Project X” is out in theaters on March 2, 2012.
