The development team at Obsidian Entertainment is delivering a new update on its Project Eternity video game, offering information about the second prototype that’s being worked on and on at least two enemies.

Adam Brennecke, an executive producer and lead programmer, tells fans that “party movement, melee and ranged combat attacks, containers (with loot!), doors, using special class abilities and spell casting, area transitions, inventory and equipment are all in the game and functioning.”

Obsidian is not resting on its laurels and is currently working on a second prototype that’s more ambitious and will include a small village with a number of buildings that can be explored, alongside a shop and an inn.

Both businesses will provide services for the player and his companions and Obsidian also wants to attach a wilderness area to the village, with a dungeon that will include a number of monsters that players will be able to battle.

The team is also sharing information on the Skuldr, a new enemy type, and says that an Ogre is also in the early stages of creation and will receive more details soon.

The official description reads, “Skuldr have poor vision, but they use a form of echolocation to perceive the spirit world. This allows them to “see” souls, making it difficult to use stealth to avoid them.”

Project Eternity is designed as an old-school role-playing game and that means the Obsidian developers still have plenty of work to do in order to make a complete creature list and define the abilities of all character classes.

The team is documenting the entire development process and will even create a video feature about it when the game is launched, available for Kickstarter backers.

Project Eternity is currently set to launch at some point in April 2014 exclusively on the PC.
