Project Cars, the new title from Slightly Mad Studios, is at the moment the leader of the United Kingdom video game sales chart, managing to generate some very solid sales during the first week when it was offered in stores and via digital services.

The racing title is designed to focus on the simulation aspect of the genre, and the developers are offering a line-up of more than 70 cars, each of them carefully re-created in virtual form based on real-world performance data.

The player community has been very happy with the mechanics delivered by Project Cars, and Slightly Mad Studios has said that it has plans to update the game for free in the coming months to make sure that the experience is balanced while also introducing more content.

Grand Theft Auto V, the open world title from Rockstar, continues to perform well but has not managed to move up from the second place that it has been occupying for a while, according to data from UKIE.

The developers have recently said they do not have plans to introduce new content soon for the Online mode, but they will update the tools so that the community can put together their own missions.

The final place on the podium belongs to Mortal Kombat X, the fighting game from NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive, which has recently received a solid DLC pack.

The best of the rest

FIFA 15 remains almost glued to fourth place, despite the fact that it is by now a relatively old title, boosted mostly by the new additions to the Ultimate Team mode, which now features a range of purple items for hero players.

Dying Light, the open world experience from Techland, is in fifth place, gaining one position when compared to the previous week.

Sixth place belongs to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, the first-person shooter from Sledgehammer Games and publisher Activision, which has managed to climb two places.

Battlefield Hardline has seen the biggest drop in the United Kingdom chart and has moved from third to seventh place, and it is followed by the Xbox version of Minecraft.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is in ninth place at the moment, with most of the technical problems that affected it on launch solved.

The United Kingdom top ten is closed down by Destiny, which is set to get another expansion, House of Wolves, on May 19.
