It seems that Lexar is as eager as ever to supply the industry with newer and better storage solutions, in this case a high-capacity memory card that should work best for professional photographers and the like.

It is no mystery that the IT market is already packed with a drove of memory cards of varying capacities, formats and speed ratings.

Such products stick to certain specifications in order to successfully serve smartphones, cameras, camcorders and any other electronics that rely on this type of NAND storage.

That said, Lexar just made the official introduction of what qualifies as the first SDXC card with a capacity of 128 GB.

It is offered alongside the Image Rescue software, which allows one to recover deleted video and photo files, though this isn't really the selling point.

Besides the high capacity, the card has a minimum transfer speed of 20 MB/s, making it quite well suited for capturing even HD/1,080p images and video.

"We saw a demand for a professional card that would allow photographers to not only capture more high-resolution images and HD video, but to also take advantage of the full capabilities of their high-performance digital SLRs and camcorders," said Pachi Chen-Wong, senior product marketing manager, Lexar Media.

"With the new Lexar Professional SDXC cards, we developed a product that will enhance the professional photography workflow. With capacities of 64GB and 128GB, photographers can capture, store and transfer more images and HD video in one place than ever before."

Besides the 128 GB model, which is priced at $330, Lexar also has a 64 GB SDXC card, whose own price is of $200, a significant reduction from the $700 and $400, respectively, that were suggested back in January.

The press release is available here, while the official website, as well as stores across the US, should have the duo up for sale already.
