In September, the record company Michael Jackson founded with his friend, Prince Abdulla Hamad Al-Khalifa of Bahrain, called Two Seas, was dissolved for unknown reasons. Seeing that said label was founded in the first place to handle the star's comeback to showbiz, there was little hope for the long-awaited album to ever come out.
Ever since he moved to Ireland, Michael is known to have worked closely with singer/producer will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas and has even done a televised interview about it. Seen on 'Extra', the footage shows the producer and The Gloved One sitting at the mixing board and coming up with brand new beats for the part-time retired King of Pop.
In a more recent interview, will.i.am revealed that he plans to devote his entire 2007 to helping Michael make his comeback. Although he admits that they haven't recorded any track yet, the producer also hints that the album everybody has been waiting for for more than a decade will eventually drop this year. But the chances are 50-50 for it to succeed: according to will.i.am, there is no middle way for Michael now, meaning he will either be a huge hit (like back in the days when he was still the King) or will fail miserably.
'Man, he still sings like a bird. He could go anywhere. I think we have a real opportunity to do something here. It's either gonna be really big or nobody's gonna care. Ain't no middle ground on this one.', he said, adding that they spend a lot of time talking and brainstorming about which musical direction Michael is going to take for his next endeavor.
Other big names linked to Jackson's comeback are also R&B singer Akon (who stated that he was not at liberty to confirm or deny his involvement in the project) and teen idol Chris Brown. The latter confirmed he would do a cameo on the album, by talking with 'Billboard' Magazine: 'We got a chance to meet at the World Music Awards and we're talking to his management about when we can set up a date to begin working on his album. It would be an honor and a blessing for me to work with my idol. He's one of the reasons I do my music.'
So, hang in there, fans! Something big is coming your way!
