14 DAY TRIAL // Pop star Kesha is taking her producer, Dr. Luke, to court in the hope that she might be let out of her contract with him sooner than stipulated. To convince the judge to rule in her favor, she’s painting a very disturbing picture of him, saying he’d been abusing her for years, since she first signed with him at the age of 18.
The allegations first emerged in print earlier this year, shortly after Kesha’s statement in January that she was seeking professional help for eating disorders and drug and alcohol abuse.
Some hours ago, she filed a lawsuit against Dr. Luke detailing the kind of abuse she’s been suffering at his hands but he hasn’t wasted any time in fighting back: so he too is taking her to court, alleging she’s a liar who’s out to ruin his reputation without cause.
She’s lying and she’s been trying to extort him with these lies for many months
Dr. Luke’s claims are almost as shocking as Kesha’s. Whereas she maintains she’s been living in fear of Dr. Luke for years and that he’s been calling all the shots in her life, including on how many morsels of food should pass her lips to stop her looking as “fat” as a “fridge,” he claims she’s a liar and master manipulator.
In fact, Kesha is such a liar that she obviously doesn’t give a damn that she’s ruining his reputation and career for good by spreading lies about him, Dr. Luke says in the lawsuit, as reported by TMZ.
Apparently, none of Kesha’s allegations are true, as they were made up by her, her mother Pebe, and her new management team. “Luke claims Kesha tried to extort him by threatening to spread lies about him to a blogger who started a ‘Free Kesha’ website unless he released her from her recording contract,” the celebrity publication writes.
He also claims he’s had a draft of her lawsuit for months, because she made sure to show him what she planned to do, how she thought she’d ruin his reputation if he didn’t do as she wanted. In other words, Kesha blackmailed her producer she would file the lawsuit against him if he didn’t terminate her contract.
We’ve heard of nasty legal complications over a recording deal before, but this is probably the nastiest so far.
Dr. Luke is innocent, his attorney says
Christine Lepera, the producer’s attorney, tells TMZ that her client is the victim of a huge smear campaign masterminded by Kesha and her people, all with the purpose of getting herself a new contract because she’s no longer happy with the old one.
He never treated her badly, much less drug her and rape her, and keep her under strict control by making sure she thought she had no other shot in showbiz without him. The same attorney claims Kesha and her mother have already admitted in private to the falsity of the allegations made in court documents.
“This is just another pathetic and entirely predictable example of Dr. Luke’s continued abuse, and a misguided attempt to keep Kesha under his tyrannical control,” Mark Geragos, Kesha’s lawyer, fights back.
“This lawsuit has absolutely no basis in fact, the law or reality. Kesha is focused on reclaiming her voice and her freedom. She is determined to move on with her life and her career by putting this dark period behind her,” Geragos continues.
