Nifty design for small-size applications

Despite the fact the in the field of home and office oriented audio gear, Kenwood has been rather absent during the last period and hasn't come with any extraordinary pieces of equipment, it seems like the team has been somewhat busy. Kenwood has announced the release of a truly neat piece of audio tech, destined for small-scale applications, in the body of the Prodino sound system; sporting a classic look and retailing for an affordable price, it could very well be one of the good solutions to get quality sound from a small, no-frills gadget.

The Kenwood Prodino has been designed for small rooms, like your bedroom or your office, and it comes with a diminutive footprint that will not impede you from using your desk (if we're talking about your office).

You can use SD, SDHC, miniSD, microSD and microSDHC cards with storage capacities as large as 32GB with the Prodino, but you also get the ubiquitous USB port so you will be able to listen to your fav music from pretty much any portable storage you might own.

There is no word (at least not yet) on whether the Kenwood Prodino has a 3.5mm stereo Aux In jack or not; such an absence could mean a setback when compared to any other dock or similar sound system out there.

This system can play back MP3, WMA and AAC files and boasts a rather impressive 2 x 10W RMS power rating, which is by all means more than enough in case you want to fill any medium-sized room.

The Prodino is expected to start shipping in early November (which, by the way, begins tomorrow) and retail for a 45,000 Yen price; that's around $470, and if the audio quality is one of its strong points, the price is more than fair. Additionally you can get an iPod dock (you thought Kenwood would miss that?) for less than $130.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
