"We expect that there will be a more level playing field this time around than last time"

Larry Probst, chief executive at Electronic Arts has a pretty good forecast concerning the PS3's evolution. According to the Reuters, he says he expects "there will be a more level playing field this time around than last time." What exactly could this concise comment mean? Given that Sony has settled with Immersion on the rumble issue, it could be one of the reasons for which Probst has such an optimistic view of the PS3.

However, the console's price is still rather high as Electronic Arts' chief executive reckoned at the investor conference in the United States this week, but he predicts that although Sony will see a decline in its market share in the next-gen console, he still expects the PS3 to come out on top. It isn't that far fetched if you think about it. It all comes down to what the PS3 brings. It clearly outdoes the PS2 on all major levels and even if the PS2 is still enjoying a good dose of popularity, it will eventually become obsolete. It is the inevitable future for the poor PS2 that has done so well for its manufacturing company for almost 7 years.

Let me tell you something about these predictions. All those who say the "PS3 is going to fail" or "the PS3 will be a total winner" use the data at hand to make their predictions and always use sentences like "if it had more titles," or "if they cut the price a little." One title alone can make a huge difference for a console. Take the Xbox 360 and its upcoming game, Halo 3. Need I say more? I'm sure you're very aware that it will mean another launch for the 360 when Bungie's FPS is released.

So, in conclusion, Probst still expects the PS3 to come out on top. Of course it will, but how about some good games?
