The sign makes potential shooters aware of the fact that the staff are armed

A school in Arkansas is trying to fight a potential shooting by giving its teachers and other members of the staff guns.

“Staff is armed and trained. Any attempt to harm children will be met with deadly force,” a sign laid out in front of it reads.

A photo of the sign has been posted on Reddit by user Jmillerdude, and it shows a different and radical way to fight threats against students and teachers. It has also been attached to this news article.

KARK-TV identifies the institution as Arkansas Christian Academy in Bryant. Pastor Perry Black, who is also an administrator at the school, informs that at least one and a maximum of seven people are armed at the facility on any day of the week.

"I just felt like with what's going on in many of the public sectors where there seems to be a lot of shootings we need to take the same stance that we do in church on Sunday for our kids Monday through Friday," he says.

Just this week, a gunman got inside the Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy in Decatur, Georgia with an AK-47. He had the intention of killing children until giving himself up.

Pastor Black also hires security guards as he performs Sunday service. Staff at the Christian Academy has been learning how to shoot a weapon since last year's school shooting in Connecticut.

"We have the same law enforcement officers that have helped us through training and helped us through our concealed carry permits," he adds.

Republican Curtis Coleman, running for governor, has made a statement supporting Pastor Black.

"I admire the school's administrator, Perry Black, for recognizing that every moment counts when a gun-toting criminal intent on taking innocent lives is on campus," he explains.
